GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida men's tennis team will be competing in their 28th consecutive NCAA Tournament on Saturday when they host South Carolina State. The Gators and Bulldogs will meet in the second match of the Saturday session at 1 p.m. at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
The Gators are hosting the first two rounds of this year tournaments and welcome the University of Miami and the University of North Florida to Gainesville. The two teams will play at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the winner advancing to Sunday's second round.
Gator Notes
• Florida has appeared in 28 straight NCAA Tournament
• The 28 straight appearances are the third-longest active streak in the country, trailing only UCLA (42) and Georgia (35)
• UF has reached at least the Round of 16 in three of the last four year including the last two
• Under head coach Bryan Shelton Florida is 7-5 in the tournament
• The Gators best finish is a semifinals appearance in 2000 and 2005
