Gators Open Postseason at SEC Outdoor Championships
Thursday, May 10, 2018 | Track and Field
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Florida track and field, ranked No. 1 on the men's side and No. 9 on the women's side of the USTFCCCA National Team Rankings, opens postseason competition this weekend at the SEC Outdoor Championships, hosted by the University of Tennessee.
BROADCAST INFORMATION (all times Eastern)
Florida's men finished third (only 7.5 points behind champion Alabama), while the women took sixth at this year's SEC Indoor Championships. At last year's SEC Outdoors, the men placed fourth, and the women were fifth. The Gators are pursuing their first men's title since 2015, as well as their first outdoor women's title since 2009.
The Gators boast two returning 2017 SEC Outdoor champions—KeAndre Bates (triple jump) and Lloydricia Cameron (shot put), who also won the indoor title in February. Junior hammer thrower Anders Eriksson, the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Men's Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year, won an SEC title as a freshman in 2016.
In addition to Cameron, sophomores Clayton Brown (triple jump) and Grant Holloway (60-meter hurdles) won SEC titles during the 2018 indoor season. Holloway runs the 110-meter hurdles outdoors, an event he settled for a silver medal in at last year's SEC Outdoors.
