NCAA releases the Singles and Doubles Championship Bracket

Five men’s tennis student-athletes will compete in the 2018 NCAA Individual Championships
INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA announced on Tuesday the 2018 Singles and Doubles Championship Brackets which features five Florida men's tennis student-athletes. The individual championship event will run May 23-28 in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Competing in singles for Florida will be Alfredo Perez, Johannes Ingildsen, and Oliver Crawford. Perez and Ingildsen will also team up for the doubles tournament and be joined by McClain Kessler and Duarte Vale.
In doubles, Perez and Ingildsen will be making their second consecutive appearance in the individual championship event. The duo advanced to the round of 16 last season, earning All-America honors. This year the pair enters as the No. 4 overall seed and will be matched up against Tom Fawcett and Axel Geller of Stanford. The other doubles duo to earn a spot in the event are McClain Kessler and Duarte Vale. The pair enters the event as an at-large selection and will take on 5-8 seed Guillermo Nuñez and Alex Rybakov of TCU. This will be the second meeting between the two doubles teams. TCU's pair defeated Kessler and Vale 6-2 back on March 14. Crawford and Chase Perez-Blanco were chosen as alternates but didn't have enough teams drop out to open a spot for the two.
In singles, Perez will be making his third consecutive appearance in the field. As a freshman, he advanced to the round of 32 while last season advancing to the round of 16 to earn All-America honors. In the first round, Perez will take on JJ Wolf of Ohio State. Ingildsen is making his singles debut in the tournament. He will be matched up against Runhao Hua of Michigan, an opponent he defeated 6-2, 6-3 indoors in Ann Arbor, Mi. The final singles competitor for Florida is Crawford. He will meet Florida State's Lucas Poullain in the first round. The two met for the first time during the College MatchDay Event in Orlando with Poullain taking the narrowest of victories by scores of 7-6(7-4), 7-6(7-5).
The singles bracket consists of 64 individuals while the doubles bracket includes 32 pairs from around the country. Automatic qualification into the Division I singles championships is awarded to any conference with one or more eligible singles players ranked in the ITA Top 125 for eligible/entered singles players. Automatic qualification into the Division I doubles championship is awarded to any conference with one or more eligible doubles teams ranked in the ITA Top 60 for eligible/entered doubles teams.
