Women's tennis sends Sydney Berlin, Tsveta Dimitrova and Marlee Zein to compete at clay court tournament in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida women's tennis resumes its 2019 fall slate this weekend, Nov. 1-3, as student-athletes Sydney Berlin, Tsveta Dimitrova and Marlee Zein travel to Lakewood Ranch to compete in the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic.

The Gators are to compete in the event, benefiting the V Foundation for Pediatric Cancer Research, for the eighth-straight season.

Known as one of the most unique tournaments in college tennis. Players from nationally-ranked programs from around the country will be competing for the title of the only clay court event on the ITA/NCAA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) calendar.

UF will take on competitors from Nebraska, Oklahoma St., Appalachian St., South Florida, Boston College, Central Florida, Virginia Tech, Auburn and Michigan. Seven of the 10 squads qualified for last season's NCAA Tournament.

Berlin, Dimitrova and No. 85 Zein all most recently competed at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships, Oct. 18-21. Berlin has registered a 4-1 mark so far this fall, while Dimitrova sits at 3-3 and Zein at 2-3.

The sophomore Zein and the senior Dimitrova will take part in both singles and doubles action while Berlin will compete in singles.

Last season Dimitrova claimed the singles consolation title, finishing the event with a 4-1 record.

Admission is free for all matches.
