Holloway, Distance Corps Lead Gators at Pair of Meets
Friday, February 8, 2019 | Track and Field
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Junior all-around sensation Grant Holloway was at it again, and Florida's distance corps put together some impressive performances of its own, as the Gators competed at both the Tyson Invitational and Iowa State Classic Friday.
Holloway clocked a world-leading 60-meter hurdles time of 7.43 seconds, also just one hundredth of a second off his own collegiate record. The Chesapeake, Va., native now owns three of the five fastest times in collegiate history, as well as six of the 11 fastest times in collegiate history.
In Ames, Iowa, redshirt junior Jessica Pascoe added to her tremendous indoor season with the No. 9-ranked time on the program's All-Time Top 10 in her first-ever 3,000 meters race. Pascoe clocked in at 9:21.72, marking just the second time since the start of 2015 a Gators runner broke 9:22. Last month, Pascoe set the school record in the 5,000 meters, and her time is likely to remain in the national top 16 (where it would need to be for NCAA Indoors qualifying) even after a day loaded with distance carnivals across the country.
Freshman Trevor Foley and fifth-year senior Morgan Hull also cracked the Gators' All-Time Top 10 list, doing so in the 5,000 meters.
Foley's 14:10.24 slid onto the men's list by a little over three seconds, and it marked the fastest time by a Gators runner since January 2015. Hull checked in at No. 9 on the women's list, posting a time of 16:36.71. The time was also a personal record of 28.65 seconds for Hull.
Florida wraps up both meets Saturday, with SEC Network + is live streaming the Tyson Invitational, and FloTrack streaming the Iowa State Classic, though, a paid subscription is required.
