GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In the second home match in two days, Florida defeated Vanderbilt, 7-0, to sweep its midweek matches at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
With the win, the Gators improve to 14-2 on the season and a perfect 6-0 in conference play. They have also extended their winning streak to a season-best eight.
Florida took the lead early and never looked back. It earned the doubles point, for the second straight match, with victories on courts two and three. At No. 3 doubles,
Alfredo Perez and
Johannes Ingildsen won their third straight with a 6-4 decision.
Oliver Crawford and
Sam Riffice got the clincher with a 6-3 win as the duo claimed their 12th of the season.
In singles, the Gators continued their dominance taking all first six first sets.
Riffice was nearly perfect in his 6-0, 6-0 win on court two as he extended Florida's lead. The freshman improved to 6-0 in the SEC.
Duarte Vale put the Gators up 3-0 as he garnered a 6-1, 6-1 victory on court five and extended his winning streak to five matches.
Andy Andrade came up with the match clincher with a straight-set victory on court three. The sophomore clinched his third match of the season, second in conference play.
Ingildsen,
McClain Kessler and Crawford completed the sweeps with victories on courts four, six and one, respectively.
Up next, Florida will travel to Lexington and look to improve to 7-0 in the SEC as it takes on Kentucky on Saturday. First serve against the Wildcats will be at 2 p.m. ET.

"It feels good to clinch the match. Obviously we are on a roll now. We have a lot of momentum. We are doing a lot of things right and we got the doubles point. That's the second doubles point in a row, so that's a positive. We are on a roll now and that's pretty important for us."

"I was very focused and I was very confident in myself. I knew the team had my back as well so that's why the confidence came in."
On Kentucky and moving forward in SEC play…
"We are just going to keep going now. We came this far, so now it gets more important for us. We have Kentucky, who is going to be tough. Indoors over there is going to be tough and tough conditions for us, but we are still pretty confident. We have to keep the confidence and the focus up and keep believing in ourselves."
