Seventeen Gators Set to Battle NCAA’s Best in Austin

AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Florida men's swimming team returns to action for the 2019 NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas. The Gators send 17 swimmers to the championships, which begin on Wednesday, March 27.
The 17 swimmers are the most the Gators have taken to the NCAA Championships since 2008, when they took 17 as well.
The four-day championships will be held at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the campus of the University of Texas. The meet begins on Wednesday, March 27 and runs through Saturday, March 30.
Brennan Balogh, Khader Baqlah, Clark Beach, Will Davis, Robert Finke, Trey Freeman, Erge Gezmis, Marco Guarente, Dillon Hillis, Alex Lebed, Bayley Main, Maxime Rooney, Grant Sanders, Kieran Smith, and Kacper Stokowski all earned spots in the national championships with their season-best swims.
Florida brings a plethora of experience to the championships in Austin. Lebed is set to make his fourth appearance at the NCAA Championships, which leads the Gators. Baqlah and Rooney are set to appear in the championships for a third time. Balogh, Beach, Guarente, Main, and Sanders will appear for a second time.
Davis, Finke, Freeman, Gezmis, Hillis, Smith, and Stokowski will be making their first appearances at the national championships.
The Gators also had five relays post a qualifying standard time for the NCAA Championships. The 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay, 800 Free Relay, 200 Medley Relay, and 400 Medley Relay all made the cut with qualifying times.
Jack Szaranek and Stanley Wu will be relay alternates for the championship meet. Both will be making their first appearances at the NCAA Championships.

The championships will being with the 800 Free Relay on Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT. The relay will be a timed final.
