GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Looking to continue its 15-match home winning streak, No. 2 Florida will host No. 18 South Carolina at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
Prior to the top-20 showdown, the Gators will honor seniors McClain Kessler and Alfredo Perez. The two have a combined overall win total of 304 matches and five All-American honors. The Senior Day recognition will begin at 12:45.
Riding a 13-match winning streak this season, Florida will try to finish the SEC season undefeated for the first time since 2003. If the Gators win, they will be the outright 2019 Regular Season conference champions, but a loss to the Gamecocks would result in shared title situation with Mississippi State.
Florida holds an impressive 91-24 mark in dual singles matches and is 57-9 in SEC singles play. Freshman Sam Riffice has won 11 straight matches and remains undefeated in league action, alternating between the No. 2 and No. 3 positions for the Gators. Six different Florida singles players have acquired six or more wins in SEC action and no one has more than three losses. Sophomore Duarte Vale is also undefeated in SEC play and is in the midst of 10-match winning streak. The depth of Florida's singles lineup is evident in the combined 48-7 record at the No. 4-6 positions.
In the ITA Singles Rankings, Florida boasts five individuals in the top-125. Sophomore Oliver Crawford leads the way at No. 11 and is 9-1 in his last ten matches. Andy Andrade comes in at No. 38 and Riffice is No. 47. Vale and Ingildsen round out the rankings at No. 96 and No. 108, respectively.
Despite having four ranked tandems in the ITA Doubles Poll, Florida has struggled in doubles for most of the season. Florida changed its pairings for the doubles matches last weekend and it worked. The Gators took the doubles point over Alabama and Auburn, but has taken the early advantage four times at home this season.
