GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida men's tennis team officially kicks off the fall season on Friday (Sept. 13) in Wilmington, N.C., as six Gators – Duarte Vale, Brian Berdusco, Josh Goodger, Greysen Cacciatore, Harrison Cacciatore and Blaise Bicknell – will compete in the Southern Exposure Sunrooms Seahawk Fall Invite, hosted by UNC Wilmington at the Porters Neck Country Club. While the Gators are competing in the Seahawk Invite, senior Johannes Ingildsen will compete overseas, participating in the Davis Cup as a member of the Denmark national team.
Seahawk Invite
The three-day event runs Friday through Sunday (Sept. 13-15), with players from UNC Wilmington, Coastal Carolina, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Gwinnett, North Florida, Presbyterian, UNC Asheville and VCU joining the Gators as individuals in the singles and doubles draws.
The field of competition is split into four doubles draws (Flight A, B, C, D), while singles has been split into five singles draws (Flight A, B, C, D1, D2). Play begins daily with doubles at 9:00 a.m., followed by singles action at 10:30 a.m. The finals are slated for Sunday morning.
Davis Cup
Ingildsen will compete alongside the Denmark national team in the Davis Cup, the premier international team event in men's tennis, as Denmark - No. 3 seed in the Europe/Africa Group II ties - will host Turkey from Friday, Sept. 13 to Saturday, Sept. 14 in the first round. A native of Copenhagen, Denmark, Ingildsen will compete on Saturday in doubles play alongside Frederik Nielsen (ATP Doubles No. 50).
