LUBBOCK, Texas – For the second straight day Florida women's tennis junior
McCartney Kessler saw her match go to a 10-point deciding tiebreak, and for the second straight day she prevailed as the two-time All-SEC performer battled to a hard-fought 6-4, 4-6, [12-10] win over Andie Daniell Monday at the McLeod Tennis Center on the campus of Texas Tech University.
Kessler advances to the third round of the Lubbock 15's qualifying draw and will compete against Kendra Bunch Tuesday with a spot in the main draw on the line.
After dropping the first set in yesterday's match, Kessler flipped the script on Monday and opened her bout with a victory in set one. The former Alabama player, Daniell, then evened the tally at 1-1 with a 6-4 win in the second, but it was Kessler who held the upper hand in the first to 10 (win by two) tiebreak.
Kessler has her sights set on the main draw where she hopes to join classmate
Victoria Emma who earned an automatic qualification.
Main draw action kicks off Wednesday.

Quotes from the Court – Assistant Coach Lauren Embree
"McCartney and I talked about a few things to work on from yesterday and she did a great job of implementing them today. Each day she is improving and continuing to get better. These matches are a great test early in the year and I am excited for her to get back out there tomorrow."
