
Gators Steady Through 18 Holes in Illinois

The Florida men's golf team is in eighth place after the first round of the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational.
CHICAGO, Ill. – The Florida men's golf team is in eighth after shooting 5 over in round one of the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational.
The Gators are currently seven strokes back from the leader, Georgia Tech.
Individually, freshman Quentin Debove got off to a solid start. Debove carded five birdies throughout the round to finish 1-under 69, the first under-par round of his collegiate career. Debove is tied for seventh on the leaderboard heading into tomorrow.
John Axelsen's steady play from the Gators' first tournament carried over to today. The junior recorded two birdies throughout the round to finish the day at even par, putting him at tied for 13th individually.
Freshmen Ricky Castillo and John DuBois both shot 3 over through the first 18 holes, while sophomore Eugene Hong shot 7 over.
The second round of the OFCC/Fighting Illini is set to begin tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. ET.
