Ben Shelton delivered another two-set victory over a ranked opponent to win his semifinals match on Saturday, Oct. 9.
The Gainesville native went toe-to-toe with No. 72 Clement Chidekh of Washington in the first set as Shelton and the Husky traded games back-and-forth. The two semifinalists tied the first set at 3-all, until Shelton broke loose and won the next three games in a row to take the first set with a 6-3 score.
Shelton dominated the next set from start to finish as he never let Chidekh win a game. The Gator posted a bagel to clinch the match and move on the finals with a 6-0 second set score.
