Gators Advance Five, Collect Three Points on Day 2 of NCAA Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Florida's women advanced all five entries and collected three team points during the second day of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Redshirt freshman Grace Stark earned Florida's first qualification of the day, winning her heat and setting the tone for the Gators with a personal-best time of 12.73 [+0.3] in the 100-meter hurdles. Stark's time, which ranks among the top 20 in the world this year, tied Bridgette Owens's 2015 school record.
Stark's performance was followed by freshman Talitha Diggs and redshirt junior Taylor Manson advancing in the 400 meters.
Diggs earned an automatic qualification with a time of 51.45 seconds. Meanwhile, Manson logged a personal record of 51.04, moving to the No. 4 spot on UF's All-Time Outdoor Top 10 list and advancing to the finals.
Gabrielle Wilkinson, the SEC champion in 1,500 meters, will compete for a national title in the 800 meters. The redshirt sophomore qualified with a heat-winning time of 2:03.50.
Jumper Claire Bryant finished sixth in the long jump, accounting for the Gators' three points of the day. The freshman logged a mark of 6.45 meters (21 feet, 2 inches) [+0.1].
Florida's 4x400-meter relays squad—formed by Manson, Sterling Lester, Doneisha Anderson and Diggs—closed the evening for the Gators by advancing to the finals with a time of 3:27.46, which ranks sixth in school history.
The women's final round is scheduled for Saturday. Meanwhile, the men are back in action Friday for their final round competition.
Redshirt freshman Joseph Fahnbulleh will compete in the 100 and 200 meters, while Ryan Willie will run for a title in the 400. Florida's 4x400-meter relays squad will also make an appearance in the finals.
