
Four Gators Go Undefeated on Second Day of Chowderfest

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Four Gators went undefeated on day two of the Crimson Chowderfest as Nate Bonetto, Will Grant, Lukas Greif and Ben Shelton all won their matches on Saturday, Sept. 25 at Harvard.
The Florida men's tennis team took on players from Arizona State on the second day of the tournament and collected eight total wins, including six of nine singles victories.
Bonetto and Shelton took care of business against ASU's George Stoupe and Christian Lerby as the Gators easily won their match, 6-1. Doubles duo Josh Goodger and Grant battled with ASU's Jonah Wilson and Moritz Hoffmann, but ultimately won 7-5.
All three Gators – Bonetto, Grant and Shelton – kept their Saturday records undefeated after winning their singles matches. No. 86 Shelton was able to overpower Murphy Cassone of ASU by two scores of 6-1. Grant only needed two sets himself to beat ASU's Spencer Brachman, 6-1, 6-3. Bonetto and Hoffmann went at it as the Gator overtook the Sun Devil in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
No. 111 Lukas Greif, No. 14 Andy Andrade and freshman Shelbayh also collected singles wins on the day.
Greif remains undefeated in the tournament so far in singles after winning his match yesterday, then defeated Stoupe in a three-set victory today. Greif would drop the first set, 3-6, but go on to win the second set by a score of 6-1 and collected a bagel in the third set, 6-0.
Shelbayh joins Greif with an undefeated singles record at the Chowderfest tournament as he took the match from ASU's Nicola Cigna, 6-3, 6-4. Andrade competed against Lerby and also scored a bagel in set one, 6-0, then battled in a tiebreak to ultimately win the match with a 7-6 (6) second set score.
The Gators close out the tournament Sunday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m.
