GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Gators men's tennis team continues its fall slate as the Gators travel to Cambridge, Mass., to compete in the Crimson Chowderfest, a tournament in conjunction with the Laver Cup and hosted at Harvard University, on Friday, Sept. 24 to Sunday, Sept. 26.
Friday and Saturday matches will begin at 11 a.m., while Sunday's competition is set for a 1 p.m. start time.
The team is coming off an impressive opening weekend as they compiled a 25-8 overall record at the Gator Fall Invite two weeks ago.
Graduate Mattias Siimar and senior Lukas Greif both put together undefeated records at the tournament. Siimar went 5-0 and collected two ranked doubles wins with partner Abedallah Shelbayh over the No. 3 team from UCF, Bogdan Pavel and Trey Hilderbrand, and the No. 49 duo from NC State, Yannai Barkai and Braden Shick.
Two other Gators collected ranked victories in the tournament as Andy Andrade defeated No. 16 Connor Thomson of South Carolina and Ben Shelton beat No. 56 James Story from USC.
Florida has a slew of players in ITA's preseason national rankings. Both Gators captains, Sam Riffice and Duarte Vale, claimed spots in the top five as Riffice ranks No. 2 and Vale ranks No. 4.
Andrade found himself a spot at No. 14 and is currently approaching the all-time career singles wins record after going 3-0 in singles to open the fall season. The current record is 120 singles wins and Andrade now has 110 singles victories in his career.
Josh Goodger is another ranked Gator as he checks in at No. 59, while Shelton sits at No. 86. Both Siimar (No. 103) and Greif (No. 111) round out Florida's individual preseason rankings on the singles side. In doubles, Riffice and Shelton rank No. 26 and Siimar and Shelbayh are at No. 57.

The other schools participating in the tournament are Cal-Berkeley, Michigan, Arizona State and Harvard. On Friday, Florida, Cal and Michigan will all begin play at 11 a.m., while Harvard and ASU are set to start at 2 p.m.
Florida and ASU will start Saturday competition at 11 a.m. and Harvard, Michigan and Cal will begin at 2:30 p.m.
On the final day, Florida and Harvard will begin at 1 p.m. while Michigan, Cal and ASU have an earlier start at 10 a.m.
The Chowderfest tournament results for singles and doubles matches will be posted by flights and there will be one winner (top player from flight one as well as a runner-up).
