
Bedford Cup Up Next For Gators

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Gators women's tennis team travels to Tampa as they compete in the Bedford Cup hosted by the University of South Florida on October 1-3, joining 10 teams in the field including UCF who finished last season ranked No. 11.
The Gators are sending Sydney Berlin, Emily De Oliveira, Alicia Dudeney, Emma Shelton and Bente Spee to the tournament.
Last weekend, Berlin, De Oliveira, Dudeney and Spee all opened the fall season at North Carolina as they competed in the Kitty Harrison Invitational.
Dudeney's freshman season started off with a bang as she posted two singles wins and made it to the doubles finals with teammate Carly Briggs. Dudeney and Briggs finished runner-up in doubles and added a ranked win over No. 30 team Briana Crowley and Christina Hand of Northwestern.
Berlin was also able to tally two singles victories at the tournament, including a ranked win over No. 91 player Sofia Cabezas of Iowa State. Freshmen De Oliveira and Spee both made their Florida debuts last weekend as they each picked up a singles win. Shelton is set to make her first appearance as a Gator in the Bedford Cup.
Matches are set to begin at 9 a.m. each day.
