EUGENE, Ore. – Florida's outstanding success at Hayward Field this season continued in great effect Saturday afternoon with four more Gators advancing to this summer's World Championships; also to be held in Eugene.
Gator Great Cory McGee was the U.S. Runner-Up in the 1500 meters, crossing the line in 4:04.52 to advance to her second-career World Championships.
Talitha Diggs entered the weekend as one of the favorites to advance to the World Championships in the 400 meters.
The NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Champion, Diggs was the only American to dip under 50 seconds this year in the quarter mile.
Sitting third going down the homestretch on Saturday afternoon, Diggs turned on the burners across the final 100 meters. She stopped the clock in 50.22 to win the U.S. National Championship and secure her spot at this year's World Championships.
Diggs wasn't the only Florida 400-meter runner to shine on Saturday night.
Just 10 minutes after Diggs punched her ticket back to Eugene, Champion Allison ran one of the best races in world history.
Allison raced Michael Norman, 5th in the 400 meters at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, to the line to secure his spot at the World Championships.
The Houston, Texas native, Allison, crossed the line in 43.70, a personal best of over half a second.
His time of 43.70 makes him the No. 10 performer in World History across 400 meters. Allison represented the USA at the 2016 World U-20 Championships, earning gold in the 4x400 relay.
Now, he will represent the United States at the Senior Level for the first time in his career.
To close out the day, Jasmine Moore made a little history of her own.
She was third in the Triple Jump, qualifying to the World Championships with a mark of 14.16m/46-5.25.
Moore will now represent the USA in the Long Jump and Triple Jump at this summer's World Championships.
She becomes the first American woman in history to qualify to the same World Championships in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump
