GAINESVILLE, FL.– Florida women's basketball will return to the O'Dome Saturday afternoon to play Winthrop in their first home contest in 42 days. Florida has been on an extended road stretch since November 17 and will host the Eagles in a double-header with the men's team to wrap-up 2023. Tip-off is set for 3:45 p.m. and will be available on SECN+.

Florida holds the all-time series over the Winthrop Eagles 1-0, with their sole matchup dating back to March of 2013.
HISTORY:
The Gators defeated Winthrop 85-53 in their only recorded contest with a 35-point margin in March of 2013. The game was played at Winthrop Coliseum in Rock Hill, South Carolina, as part of the 2013 WNIT post-season tournament. Florida's win against the Eagles in 2013 was their ticket to the WNIT Sweet 16.

Florida is coming off a Power Five win against the Michigan Wolverines at the 2023 Jumpman Invitational. The Gators defeated Michigan 82-65 with four Gators in double figures for scoring. Overall, the Gators were led on offense by Aliyah Matharu with 27 points to tie her career high, and by Ra Shaya Kyle on the boards, securing her sixth double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
ABOUT WINTHROP:
The Winthrop Eagles hold a 6-6 non-conference record going into Saturday's contest and are coming off a 55-49 loss to North Florida. In their last time out against North Florida, Winthrop had three players in double figures and collected a total of 30 rebounds spread among nine players. The Eagles were led in scoring by Ronaltha Marc with 17 points, followed by Blessing Okoh with 11 points.
Overall, the Big South team has had a difficult schedule so far, facing two other SEC teams (Texas A&M, Alabama), and ACC's Clemson. The Eagles fell to all three Power 5 team's but have picked up wins against Erskine, South Carolina State, St. Augustine, San Jose State, UNCW, Queens, Carolina University, and Georgia State.
