
Gators Travel to Fayetteville for SEC Indoor Championships

Florida returns to Arkansas for the third and final time this indoor season to take part in the SEC Indoor Championships
FAYETTEVILLE, AR. – The Florida Gators Track and Field teams begin their quest for an SEC Indoor Championship on Friday at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This is the Gators third trip to Arkansas this season, having previously competed in the Razorback Invitational and the Tyson Invitational.
The Florida women are seeking to win their first SEC Indoor title since 2014, and the men are looking for their first since 2019. Last season both the men's and women's programs finished second. The Florida men's and women's teams have each won 8 SEC Indoor titles. Four of the men's and three of the women's titles have come under Head Coach Mike Holloway.
Through six meets this season, the Gators have won 33 event titles and set or improved on six school records. Individually, Sam Austin (1:46.06) and Imogen Barrett (2:01.23) broke the school records in the 800m, Talitha Diggs broke the 200m school record (22.61), and Parker Valby bettered her own school record in the 3000m (8:49.71). The distance medley relay team of Imogen Barrett, Vanessa Watson, Gabrielle Wilkinson, and Parker Valby (10:57.58) and the 4x400 team of Laila Owens, Jayla Hollis, Vanessa Watson, and Talitha Diggs (3:27.58) both broke school records in their respective events.
Prior to the SEC Indoor Championships the Gators participated in the Florida University Last Chance Meet, taking home eight event titles and placing 16 athletes in total on the podium.
SEC INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS MEET INFORMATION (all times Eastern)
The first event Friday will begin at 1 p.m. ET with Sterling Lester beginning her quest for the pentathlon title with the 60m hurdles portion of the competition. The first running event begins at 5 p.m. ET when Caden Monk and Joe Wester participate in the men's mile prelims. Day one of the SEC Indoor Championships will include all the prelims for finals on Saturday, as well as the finals for the men's and women's long jump, 5000m, and distance medley relay, and the women's pentathlon.
Day two beings at 3:15 p.m. ET with Corvell Todd in the men's high jump finals, followed by Claire Bryant in the women's high jump finals. The second day of competition will include all remaining finals.
The SEC Network will broadcast a highlight show recap of the SEC Indoor Championships on Sunday from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
