
Florida Begins Their 2023 Outdoor Campaign at the FSU Relays

Florida men’s and women’s track & field teams seek to repeat as national champions
GAINESVILLE, FL. – On Thursday, the Florida Gators Track and Field teams begin their 2023 outdoor season as they travel to Tallahassee, Florida, to compete in the FSU Relays. This begins the quest for the women's second outdoor national title and the men's sixth. The Gators won both the men's and women's titles at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships and look to repeat this season.
Gators Akari Isaac, Imani Washington, Kathryn Nohilly, and Devin Willis make their Gator track and field debuts as Florida travels 15 men and 13 women to Tallahassee for the meet.
The Gators won 40 event titles and set or improved on 11 school records during the 2023 indoor campaign. On the track, Sam Austin (1:46.06) and Imogen Barrett (2:01.23) broke the school records in the 800m, Talitha Diggs (22.61) and Robert Gregory (20.22) broke the 200m school records, Diggs broke the 400m record (50.15), and Parker Valby bettered her own school record in the 3000m (8:49.71). The distance medley relay team of Imogen Barrett, Vanessa Watson, Gabrielle Wilkinson, and Parker Valby (10:57.58) and the 4x400 team of Laila Owens, Jayla Hollis, Vanessa Watson, and Talitha Diggs (3:27.58) both broke school records in their respective events. In the field, Jasmine Moore bettered her own school record in the long jump (6.91m/22'8") and the triple jump (15.12m/49'7.25") and Alida Van Daalen broke the school record in women's shot put (18.66m/61'2.75") in only her third competition as a Gator.
FSU RELAYS MEET INFORMATION (all times Eastern)
Thursday the Gators begin the meet with throwing and jumping events. The first event Thursday will begin at 2:00 p.m. when Imani Washington makes her Gator debut as she competes in the women's hammer throw. After the hammer throw, the Gators men and women will participate in the shot put, followed by the men's long jump and high jump.
Day two beings at 10:30 a.m. on Friday with Thea Jensen, Da'Moni Kelly, and Akari Isaac competing in women's discus, followed by the men's discus competition. The women's team will also take on in the 100m hurdles, javelin, 100m, and 1500m, while the men's team will compete in the 110m hurdles, javelin, triple jump, 100m, and 1500m.
