Gators Look to Carry Momentum into Weekend SEC Road Trip

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Florida women's tennis will look to carry their newfound momentum into a weekend road series at Mississippi State and Ole Miss as they continue Southeastern Conference play.
The Gators (9-4, 3-2 SEC) will travel to Mississippi State (10-7, 0-6 SEC) on Friday, March 24, for a 5 p.m. ET matchup with the Bulldogs before heading to Ole Miss (8-6, 2-4 SEC) for a 2 p.m. ET match on Sunday, March 26.
THE SERIES VS. MISSISSIPPI STATE
Florida and the Bulldogs meet for the 43rd time in program history on Friday evening, with the Gators holding a 41-1 lead all-time. In Starkville, Florida holds a perfect 21-0 record and most recently earned a 5-2 victory on April 1, 2022, at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
THE SERIES VS. OLE MISS
The Gators will meet Ole Miss for the 54th time in program history and lead the series, 50-3. On the road, Florida holds a 19-2 mark and Florida took down the Rebels last season, 7-0, in Gainesville. The Orange & Blue are taking a 15-match winning streak over Ole Miss into Oxford.
TOP-THREE TRIUMPH
Florida earned their biggest win since the 2017 season on Wednesday afternoon, taking down No. 3 Michigan inside Linder Stadium, 4-1. After claiming the doubles point, Sara Dahlstrom (one singles), Alicia Dudeney (three singles) and Emily De Oliveira (five singles) were dominant in singles to secure the 4-1 victory, with each taking down a nationally-ranked opponent. The win is the Gators first over a top-five opponent since April 7, 2018 when they took down No. 5 South Carolina, 4-2, in Columbia. Additionally, it's their first over a top-three opponent since March 14, 2017, when they defeated No. 2 Ohio State, 4-1.
ITA RANKINGS
In the latest ITA Rankings, the Gators continue to hold steady in the top-20 and find themselves ranked No. 19 as a team. Individually, Sara Dahlstrom leads the way with a ranking of No. 42, while Carly Briggs and Anastasia Sysoeva both remain in the rankings as well, sitting at 45th and 122nd, respectively. The doubles tandem of Briggs and Rachel Gailis also appear in this week's rankings, remaining the No. 60 doubles squad.
SEC STRONG
The SEC is one of the top conferences in collegiate tennis, with 11 teams finding themselves in the latest top-75 rankings from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Among the Power Five conferences, the SEC's 11 ranked-teams are the second most, while the ACC leads the way with 13. The Big Ten and Big 12 each have nine teams ranked, while the Pac 12 boasts eight ranked squads.
