Florida Opens SEC Road Action with 2-0 Loss at Tennessee

Florida lost 2-0 at Tennessee in its 2023 Southeastern Conference road opener.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A Tennessee goal in each half claimed a 2-0 win over Florida soccer Thursday evening at Regal Stadium.
 
Tonight's Scoring:
The Lady Vols opened scoring in the 24th minute. Sizzy Lawton took the pass from Jordan Fusco and brought the ball into the far edge of the box. Her left-footed angled shot scored at the far post upper slot.
 
Kate Runyon put the Lady Vols up 2-0 with a long strike in the 62nd minute. She received the ball right by the UT bench, spun and drove to just above the top of the box. Runyon launched a 19-yard right-footed that clipped the crossbar and dropped in.
 
Leading up to UT's second goal, Florida's Alexa Goldberg was busy in the box, recording five saves in a 10-minute spans.
 
The Lady Vols outshot the Gators 13-8 Thursday and recorded eight corners to UF's 1.
