GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida soccer adds a former national high school player of the year who bring Southeastern Conference experience to the 2025 roster. Midfielder Brinley Murphy transfers to Florida for the spring 2025 semester after appearing in 19 matches during her sophomore season at South Carolina.
 
"We are very excited Brinley decided to join us at Florida. As a versatile player who brings SEC experience, Brinley will help bolster our midfield. She's a force in the air and we are excited to give her an opportunity to show what she can do in a Gator uniform," Florida Head Coach Samantha Bohon said. "Off the field, she is a great reflection of our student-person-player model, so it is a win-win for us all around." 
 
Murphy was tabbed as the national high school player of the year by both USA TODAY and the United Soccer Association after her senior season at Tennessee's Bearden High School. Tennessee's Gatorade Soccer Player of the Year award went to Murphy after her junior and senior seasons when she turned in 30 and 41 goals, respectively.
 
"I am extremely excited to be joining Coach Sam and the Gators," Murphy said. "The student-person-player environment is truly unique and I can't wait to be a part of what's to come! 
 
Murphy is the ninth newcomer to join the Gators for the 2025 season. UF signed six freshmen last month and announced the additions of Notre Dame transfer Abby Gemma and Clemson transfer Emilia Eriksen last week.

• Bearden H.S. won 2021 and 2022 Tennessee H.S. AAA state titles, with team earning a 47-match win streak spanning her final two seasons
• One of two in state of Tennessee to received 2022 Heisman High School Scholarship. Awarded to student-athletes who make a difference on and off the field.
