
Gators Trek North to Boston for NCAA Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – The Florida Gators Track and Field teams will conclude the 2024 indoor season with a trip to the NCAA Indoor Championships in Boston, Mass. The championships will be held at The TRACK at New Balance, which opened in 2022 and recently hosted ACC Indoor Championships just two weeks ago.
In order to qualify for NCAA Indoor Championships, athletes must obtain a top-16 mark in the nation in their respective event. Athletes are not required to compete in qualified events but are eligible to do so.
On the men's side, nine athletes and the 4x400m team earned qualifying marks during the 2024 season. For the women, five athletes as well as the DMR are eligible to participate in the weekends' events.
Below is a list of athletes and the events they have received qualifying marks for.
LAST TIME OUT
The Gators' appearances on Friday, February 23 and Saturday, February 24 at the SEC Indoor Championships were headlined by seven SEC Individual Champions and ten additional medal finishes. Gators that claimed SEC Individual Championships include: Flomena Asekol (Mile/DMR), Claire Bryant (Long Jump), Parvej Khan (Mile), Wanya McCoy (200m), Laila Owens (DMR), Grace Stark (60m H), Elise Thorner (DMR) and Parker Valby (3000m/DMR).
Other medal finishes were obtained by Sam Austin (800m – Bronze), Malcolm Clemons (Long Jump – Silver), Sean Dixon-Bodie (Triple Jump – Silver), Caleb Foster (Long Jump – Bronze), Robert Gregory (200m – Silver), Reheem Hayles (4x400m – Bronze), Amelia Mazza-Downie (5000m – Bronze), Jevaughn Powell (400m/4x400m – Silver/Bronze), Ashton Schwartzman (4x400m – Bronze) and Alida van Daalen (Shot Put – Silver).
GATORS TEAM NCAA HISTORY
In 2023 both the Gators Men and Women placed third at the NCAA Indoor Championships scoring 34 and 45 points, respectively. The Gators have totaled 14 NCAA Track & Field Championships (11 Men, 3 Women), seven of which have come during the indoor season. The most recent indoor national title earned by the men was in 2019 while the most recent indoor national title for the women came in 2022.
13 of the 14 national titles have come under the tutelage of Florida Track & Field Head Coach Mike Holloway.
