Gator Throwers Visit California for Triton Invitational Hosted by UCSD

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A group of seven Gators Track & Field throwers are set to travel to California to participate in the Triton Invitational, hosted by the University of California at San Diego, on Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6. Events will begin at 4:30 p.m. ET on Friday and 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
The seven athletes participating in this weekend's action include Calvin Bostic, Kai Chang, Will Gross IV, Akari Isaac, Gracelyn Leiseth, Logan Montgomery and Alida van Daalen, all of which competed last weekend at the Pepsi Florida Relays.
LAST TIME OUT
Chang and van Daalen are coming off performances in which they altered the record books. Chang placed second in the men's discus throw with a best mark of 60.83m/199'7" which now stands as the No. 2 distance on UF's All-Time Top 10 List. Van Daalen, who already held the school record in the discus throw, topped her own record with a throw of 61.84m/202'10".
Isaac and Leiseth also had impressive performances as they both recorded personal records in the discus throw with marks of 52.85m/173'4" and 52.28m/171'6", respectively. Additionally, Leiseth broke into the UF All-Time Top 10, at the No. 10 spot, in shot put as she tallied a best throw of 16.52m/54'2.50".
The Gators as a whole totaled six UF All-Time Top 10 finishes and 28 personal records.

After participating in both the FSU Relays and Pepsi Florida Relays, the Gators Track & Field Men's and Women's programs have found themselves on the USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Outdoor rankings for the first time in 2024. The Gators stand at No. 2 (Men) and No. 12 (Women) in the latest Coaches' Poll.
