The Gators will face Middle Tennessee in their first matchup of ITA Kick-Off Weekend
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 24 Florida looks to continue their hot start as they make the trek to New York City for ITA's Kick-Off Weekend. The Gators enter the event as the No.2 seed in the Columbia Regional.
Despite many collegiate programs already beginning dual match play, including the Gators, the ITA Kick-Off Weekend event serves as the beginning of the dual match season for college tennis.
The Gators will first face Middle Tennessee at 11:00 AM on Saturday. The winner of the match will compete for one of the coveted bids against the winner of the Columbia/Miami contest in a match on Sunday. The teams that take losses on Saturday will also compete on Sunday in a consolation match.
Florida's last outing featured a 6-1 home victory against Georgia Southern. The Gators claimed the doubles point during the weekend with No. 16 Tanapatt Nirundorn/Henry Jefferson and No. 76 Kevin Edengren/Jeremy Jin earning wins.
On the singles side, five Gators chipped in to secure the match for the Orange and Blue. Adhithya Ganesan, Jefferson, Nirundorn, Edengren, and freshman Ben Weintraub won their matches in straight set efforts.
