WILMINGTON, N.C. - For the second straight day the Florida men's golf team shot 12-under to now sit 24-under and a 19-shot lead as sophomore Zack Swanwick is tied for the individual lead through day two of the Williams Cup.
Today's 12-under mark was the low round of the day and is the best by seven shots. UF increased its advantage as Texas (-5) is the only other team under par followed by third-place Notre Dame (+1), N.C. State (+6) and North Carolina (+7).
Florida looks to capture its first win of the fall and will tee off tomorrow at 9:55 a.m.
Swanwick's 68 (-4) was tied for lowest in the lineup at Eagle Point Golf Club. The sophomore was 4-under and bogey-free through the first 13 holes. After bogeys on 14 and 16, he closed with an eagle on the 18th (par-5, 580 yards). He is 6-under through 36-holes and is tied for the individual lead with Notre Dame's Nate Stevens.
Only two shots behind Swanwick sit both Parker Bell and Luke Poulter in a tie for 3rd at 5-under. The duo each recorded their consecutive under par round. Bell only had one bogey coming on his fifth hole for a 69 (-3) as Poulter's two late birdies carded a 71 (-1).
The second 68 by a UF golfer was by senior Matthew Kress. He improved six-shots from his opening round as he only had one bogey, which didn't come until the 15th hole. Kress' 10 birdies ranked second-highest in the field, he is 2-under after 36-holes.
