
Gators Look To Improve To 2-0 Thursday With 5 pm Home Tip Against Chattanooga

GAINESVILLE, Fla.—The Florida Women's Basketball Team (1-0) looks to remain undefeated in this young season as they host Chattanooga (1-0) on Thursday, November 6 at 5 pm ET. The game is part of a women's-men's double header at Exactech Arena at the Stephen O'Connell Center with the men tipping off at 8 pm.
The Gators opened the 2025-26 season with a convincing, 96-62, home win over North Florida. Sophomore preseason All-SEC second team honoree Liv McGill nearly recorded her second career triple-double, and did post the program's first quadruple-nickel since 2022, leading all scorers with 26 points while grabbing 9 rebounds, handing out 9 assists, and collecting 5 steals.
Sophomore Me'Arah O'Neal recorded her second career double-double in the victory securing a career-high 11 rebounds to go along with 14 points. Three other Gators scored in double figures—junior Laila Reynolds (19), and freshmen Catarina Piatti (14) and Nyadieng Yiech (10)—as Florida connected on 53.8 percent of its shots on the evening.
Chattanooga is also 1-0 on the year, having defeated King University Monday evening, 82-34. Preseason Southern Conference Player of the Year Caia Elisaldez led the Mocs with 20 points, and every other player who checked in for Chattanooga dented the scoring column.
Elisaldez was a First-Team, All-Southern Conference performer a year ago after averaging 14.1 points, and 4.9 assists, while connecting on 48.6 percent of her shots from the floor. The 5-5 guard was also named to the All-Tournament First Team last season after leading Chattanooga to the SoCon Championship game before dropping a 64-57 overtime decision to UNC Greensboro.
