Gators Set to visit South Carolina for SEC Matchup No. 2

Columbia, S.C.— The Florida Gators will continue with SEC play on Friday afternoon at Carolina Tennis Center. UF's road matchup at No. 53 South Carolina is set to begin at 3 p.m. and will mark the Gators' fifth road contest of 2025.
Both the Gators and the Gamecocks will enter Friday's competition with ranked Losses. UF was defeated on Sunday by No. 4 ranked Auburn, 5-2. The Gamecocks will also be coming off an away loss, falling to No. 1 Georgia on Feb. 23. UF and South Carolina will match up on Friday with SEC win No. 1 of the 2025 season on the line.

GATORS LAST TIME OUT
Florida took its first loss of conference play, falling 5-2 at Auburn. The Gators were faced with adversity from the start of doubles play as Auburn secured the initial point of play. Rachel Gailis clinched UF's first point of the outing as she defeated No. 2 DJ Bennett. Alicia Dudeney also claimed a victory for the Gators in a comeback performance against Ava Hrastar. The remaining singles courts for Florida came up empty to finalize the score at 5-2 in favor of the Tigers.
ABOUT THE GAMECOCKS
The Gamecocks will host Florida after taking a 6-1 loss at No. 1 Georgia in its conference opener. South Carolina holds a 5-4 overall record with wins against Charleston, Coastal Carolina, New Mexico, Wake Forest, and Western Carolina.
Individually, the Gamecocks have two ranked singles players in No. 29 Sarah Hamner and No. 68 Kaitlyn Carnicella. SC is also represented in the doubles category with Olympe Lancelot and Carnicella standing at No. 52, and Hamner and Carnicella at No. 57.
