
Women's Tennis Tops Ole Miss 4-2. Takes on NC State Tuesday with Trip to ITA National Indoor Championships on Line

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Florida Women's Tennis Team (2-0) upended SEC rival Ole Miss (1-1) 4-2 Monday afternoon in the first round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Gators advance to play host NC State Tuesday at 2 p.m. EST. The winner of that match earns a trip to Chicago, Ill. to play in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships from Feb. 6-10.
The Wolfpack, ranked 11th in the nation, were slated to play Boise State in Monday's other match, but the Broncos were unable to travel due to the inclement weather that blanketed the country over the weekend.

Doubles
The Gators number two doubles team of Brooke Black and Valery Gynina defeated Riley Crowder and Alice Soulie 6-4, while Xinyi Nong and Lucie Pawlak picked up the win at number three doubles 7-6 (6-4) over Ichino Horikawa and Brooklyn Olson to put Florida on the board, 1-0. The Gators' number one doubles team of India Houghton and newcomer Emily Seibold were leading Andrea Nova and Emily Welker (No. 58 in the nation), 6-5 at the conclusion of the Nong/Pawlak match.

Gynina gave Florida the first singles point of the day from her number two slot with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Olson. Ole Miss' Welker, the sixth-ranked player in the country, bested Seibold 6-4, 6-2 at number one singles to give the Rebels their first point of the afternoon. Paskauskas battled back from a one-set deficit at number four singles to upend Nova 2-6, 6-2, 6-4, before Ole Miss secured the point at number three singles in a hotly-contested 7-6 (15-13), 7-6 (6-2) win by Soulie over Houghton. Black clinched the match for the Gators at number five singles with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Crowder. Pawlak trailed Ichino Horikawa 6-4, 3-2 at the matches' conclusion.
