Tuesday, January 27, 2026 | Women's Tennis
RALEIGH, N.C. — The Florida Women's Tennis Team (2-1) went toe-to-toe with the No. 11 team in the country, and nearly pulled off the win on the road, Tuesday, but host N.C. State (5-0) won the final three singles matches of the day en route to a 4-3 victory. The win sends the Wolfpack to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in Chicago, Ill. From Feb. 6-10.
Doubles
Valery Gynina and Brooke Black teamed up at number three doubles, dispatching Mia Slama and Lavinia Tanasie, 6-3. Florida's number one doubles team of Nikola Daubnerova and Xinyi Nong, ranked 17th in the nation, tangled with fourth-ranked Gabriella Broadfoot and Victoria Osuigwe, but dropped a 6-4 decision. That left it up to India Houghton and Emily Seibold to bring home the doubles point at number two, and they did so, besting the 40th ranked tandem in the country of Jasmine Conway and Anna Zyryanova 6-3.
Singles
For the second straight match, Gynina gave Florida the first singles point of the day from her number two slot, this time with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over (#31) Slama. N.C. State evened the singles score when (#28) Tanasie took three sets to top (#11) Paskauskas 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 from the fourth spot. Seibold picked up a ranked victory at number one singles over (#29) Broadfoot, 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-0 to put the Gators one match away from clinching the team win. Houghton came back to force a third set against (#60) Zyryanova, at number three singles but fell 3-6, 6-4, 5-7. That left Black and Pawlak at number five and six singles respectively to try and close things out. Pawlak came up short in a 6-4, 6-2 loss to Conway at the same time Black was sending her match into the third and final set. The freshman found herself down a break, trailing 5-3, but Black came up with a service break of her own to tie the score at five. Unfortunately Osuigwe took the final two games of the set for the 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 7-5 win.
