
No. 23 Gators Men’s Tennis Open ITA National Indoors Against No. 6 Mississippi State

The No. 23 ranked Gators head to Dallas, Texas for the ITA National Indoors from Feb. 13-17. They will No. 6 Mississippi State to open the tournament, and will face other top ranked opponents throughout the week.
DALLAS, Texas – The No. 23 ranked Gators Men's Tennis program is on the road for the ITA National Team Indoors. The team earned the No. 6 seed in the tournament and is set to face the No. 3 seed Mississippi State (ITA No. 6) at 7:30 p.m. EST in the opening draw.
About the Tournament
The ITA National Team Indoors consists of 16 teams facing off in dual meets across two sites in Texas. The Gators were assigned to the SMU site along with top ranked programs such as Arizona State, Clemson, Mississippi State, Ohio State, SMU (host), Stanford and Virginia. The other side of the bracket will compete in Waco, Texas at Baylor, which will host teams like Baylor (host), LSU, Texas A&M, TCU, Texas, UCF, UC Santa Barbara and Wake Forest who was the 2025 champion.
The tournament will be set up with two team's competing against each other in a dual match each day. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three matches in the first three days of the tournament, with the inclusion of consolation matches on both Saturday, Feb. 14 and Sunday, Feb. 15.
Breakdown on the Bulldogs
Mississippi State enters the tournament with the No. 3 seed at the SMU host site and is ranked at No. 6 by the ITA. The Bulldogs have earned an undefeated of 6-0 to start their season, including a win over then No. 24 Illinois. The Bulldogs have four players ranked in singles (No. 6 Petar Jovanovic, No. 33 Mario Martinez Sarrano, No. 45 Benito Sanchez Martinez and No. 68 Bryan Hernandez Cortes) and one doubles pairing ranked (No. 6 Benito Sanchez Martinez and Petar Jovanovic).
