The Gators fall to the No. 1 Texas Longhorns in a 4-1 dual after experiencing an extended rain delay.
AUSTIN, Texas – After a long match against the top-ranked Texas, the Gators eventually fell 4-1 to the Longhorns. The teams started the dual outdoors with doubles, but due to rain, they eventually had to make the move indoors to finish singles.
The Gators kept it close in doubles, but eventually lost the point to Texas after falling on courts two and three. On court two, Pablo Perez Ramos and Adhithya Ganesan faced the No. 26 ranked Sebastian Gorzny and Lucas Marionneau from Texas in a 6-4 loss. They were followed by a 6-4 loss on court three from Kevin Edengren and Lorenzo Claverie to No. 39 ranked Sebastian Eriksson and Oliver Ojakaar to give Texas the point. The Gators court one pairing of No. 9 Henry Jefferson and Tanapatt Nirundorn left their match at 5-5 against Kalin Ivanovski and Abel Forger following the doubles point decision on court three.
Following doubles, the teams experienced an hour and a half rain delay. Many courts were only one game in, when the rain came, forcing them to play all of singles indoors.
Once inside, Gators came out strong in singles, with many courts three of the six courts taking the first set against the Longhorns. However, Texas was able to recover quickly with a two quick wins over Ganesan on court one and Jeremy Jin on court two, putting the Longhorns up to a 3-0 lead. Jefferson was able to secure the Gators lone point of the dual with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Texas's Jonah Braswell on court five. The remaining three matches of Claverie on court three, Ramos on court four and Edengren on court six all went to a third set, but the match came to an end when Ramos fell to Abel Forger in the third set.
