GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Head Women's Basketball Coach Tammi Reiss announced today that the team has signed former Arizona State/Denver guard Jordan Jones.
"I'm so excited I have the opportunity to coach Jordan 'Jojo' Jones, and that she chose the University of Florida as her next home," said Reiss. "Jordan is an extremely versatile, aggressive forward that is skilled offensively and can score in a multitude of ways. She can literally play anywhere on the floor, and has the skill set to play all five positions in our offense.
"Jordan had a breakout season her junior year, and was highly recruited out of the portal. She also does a great job attacking the glass on both side of the ball. She is physically strong and will bang in the paint against the bigs in the SEC. Jordan will make an immediate impact with her versatility and skill set, but most of all with her experience and high basketball IQ. Jojo is an absolute winner."
The 6-0 Jones played her first three collegiate seasons at Denver where she led the team in scoring as both a sophomore (14.9 ppg) and a junior (19.9 ppg). She also finished first and second on the team in rebounding with 6.8 and 6.7 boards per game respectively.
During her junior season, Jones scored in double figures in all but one contest, pouring in a career-high 30 on two occasions. She also set the program single season records for points, and free throws made and attempted, while being named to the All-Summit League Second Team for the second time in her career.
The Cheyenne, Wyo. native transferred to Arizona State last season, but did not play due to an injury.
Jones was the 2022 Wyoming Gatorade player of the year coming out of Cheyenne East High School, as well as a three-time First Team All-Conference pick (2020, 2021, 2022), a two-time First Team All-Wyoming selection (2020, 2022), and a three-time First Team All-Academic honoree (2020, 2021, 2022). She also led the Thunderbirds to the 2021-22 Wyoming State Championship.
A versatile two-sport athlete, Jones also played volleyball at Cheyenne East where she was named MVP in each of her final three seasons.
