Sunday, April 5, 2026 | Men's Tennis
With the start of clay court season, former Florida teammates Ben Shelton and Andres Andrade joined forces in the ATP 250 Houston doubles tournament.
HOUSTON, Texas – Ben Shelton and Andres Andrade, former teammates at Florida, paired up on the doubles court once again at the Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men's Clay Court Championship. This tournament is categorized as an ATP 250 level tournament and is the only clay court competition played in the United States and has held residence in the city of Houston, Texas since 2001.
Shelton and Andrade have not shared the court since April 4, 2021 when the pair played on court three for the Gators while Florida played Kentucky during the regular season. Since then, the duo has graduated to a bigger stage, entering the ATP tournament as a wildcard in the tournament and defeated both the first and third seeded teams of the tournament to earn the title. The final match for the former Gators was against the No. 1 seeded Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos in a three-set, come-from-behind win. The duo started down a set, but rallied back to go 6-3, 10-6 to win the trophy.
This doubles title marks both Shelton and Andrade's first ATP tour doubles title in their career. Shelton became the first American doubles champion in Houston since 2016 and Andrade became the first Ecuadorian player to earn a tour level doubles title since 2024.
