Summer Gators: 2025-26 Men’s Tennis Team Keeps Busy with Summer Competition

Gators compete around the globe to prepare for upcoming season
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The 2026-27 Men's Tennis squad has been preparing all summer for the upcoming season, competing in tournaments all over the world. With each tournament, the players have been able to compete on different surfaces against various levels of difficulty to develop their skills and strategies on the court.
Here is what the Gators have been up to:
Francesco Cordova
The junior gator returns to Gainesville after competing and training in multiple continents. The Texas native began his summer training with the Guatemalan Davis Cup. Cordova then traveled to Italy where he competed in the qualifying tournament for the ATP 1000 Rome. Following that appearance, the Texan competed in a M20 tournament in Noci, Italy. Concluding his summer training, Cordova competed in a UTR Pro tournament.
Kevin Edengren
The Sweden native traveled across Europe this summer competing in multiple different tournaments. The senior reached the semifinal match at the M25 tournament in Kutaisi, Georgia, defeating multiple top-500 opponents. Edengren also competed in multiple M25 competitions in Spain on both clay and hard surfaces. Most recently, Edengren defeated Leo Borg, son of Bjorn Borg, at the M15 Malmo tournament in singles play.
Ty Host
The Australian tallied two M15 doubles titles with his partner Stefan Vujic this summer in Gaborone and Wodonga. Host also made it to the semifinals of the M15 and M25 Hillcrest in South Africa in doubles competition. The freshman also appeared in multiple quarterfinal matches across South Africa in singles play, tallying multiple ATP points throughout the summer.
Henry Jefferson
Jefferson began his summer winning the M15 Kayseri doubles title in May with former Gator Pablo Perez Ramos. The two Gators came from behind to win their first-round match and went on to win six straight sets to claim their crown. In singles competition the senior reached the semifinals of the M15 Hillcrest tournament in South Africa. Jefferson also competed in Nottingham, an ATP Challenger event that leads up to Wimbledon, the biggest tournament the Great Britain native has competed in thus far in his career.
Roman Sancilio
Coming off his first year as a Florida Gator, Sancilio competed for four weeks in Turkey collecting two ATP points. In singles play the Richmond native reached the quarterfinals of the M15 Kayseri tournament defeating two opponents ranked higher than the sophomore.
Andreas Timini
The Cyprus native spent time in South Africa, Serbia and Georgia this summer competing in various M15 and M25 tournaments. Most recently, Timini reached the quarterfinal stage of the M25 Hillcrest tournament in singles play before losing in three tightly contested sets. Timini also competed on clay courts in Serbia.
Alaa Trifi
Trifi enters his first season with the Gators after competing in ten tournaments in both singles and doubles play. The Cyprus native competed primarily in M15 Monastir tournaments on hard courts. The sophomore earned five singles victories and a doubles win to send him to the quarterfinals in early July.
Chen Ye
The freshman from China competed in six M15 tournaments across his home country from the start of May through the start of July. Ye also competed in the M25 Luzhou tournament at the end of April. In his most recent tournament, M15 Wuning, Ye advanced to the quarterfinal match of the main draw competition.
