Biography

STORYLINE: A left-handed Canadian native, Ramshaw transferred to Florida from 1999 NAIA national champion Lewis-Clark State College. Last year, he battled back from injury to start 14 games and appear in 18 games as UF's Saturday starter. Now in his final year, Ramshaw is hoping for an outstanding senior season. He was one of Florida's top starting pitchers in 2000 before suffering a season-ending injury. He graduated in June, 2001 with a degree in Psychology and is pursuing graduate work.
2001: 18 appearances and 14 starts, finished 5-3 with 5.80 ERA on season...Emerged as Gators' Saturday starter...Pitched into the sixth inning in nine of 14 starts (64 percent) on season...Allowed only three hits, one run in 4.2 inning performance in SEC Tourney vs. Tennessee, 5/17...Threw 141 pitches, allowed three earned runs, five hits, struck out five batters and earned victory in 7.0 inning performance vs. South Carolina, 5/12...Earned victory, pitched 5.1 innings, allowed six hits, five runs (five earned), walked seven and struck out four at Auburn, 5/5...Pitched 7.1 innings, allowed six hits, two runs, walked six and struck out six vs. Mississippi State, 4/28...Pitched shutout, allowed six hits and set career highs with 8.0 innings pitched and nine strikeouts in start at Vanderbilt, 3/31...Earned win after throwing 7.2 innings, allowing seven hits, four runs and struck out a then-career-high eight batters vs. Arkansas, 3/24...Earned first win on season after going career-high 5.2 innings, striking out a career-high tying five batters and allowing five hits and two runs (two ER) vs. Central Michigan, 3/4/01...Made first appearance in 62 games (since 2/13/00 vs. Miami) since suffering left elbow injury requiring Tommy John surgery in relief at Miami, 2/9...One of four pitchers and five Gators to undergo Tommy John surgery last year.
2000: Earned medical redshirt after missing most of season due to left elbow injury...Made four appearances with two starts...Posted a 1-1 record with a 6.43 ERA...Earned first win with five innings of hitless relief vs. Miami, 2/13.
1999 AT LEWIS-CLARKE COLLEGE: Played one season at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho where he led team to 1999 NAIA National Championship...Posted a 10-0 record with one save and a 2.97 ERA over 78.2 innings pitched...Made 16 appearances overall with nine starts and three complete games...Recorded a 4-1 record with a 3.78 ERA with 29 strikeouts in 32 innings during freshman campaign...Recipient of the Monny Raubelo Award.
SUMMER BASEBALL: Played 1999 summer for the champion Cotuit Kettleers in the Cape Cod League...Named to the West Division All-Star team...Posted a 1-2 record with a 1.22 ERA, third-best in the league...Recorded 41 strikeouts over 37 innings while allowing just 17 hits...Pitched 36-inning scoreless streak.
