AS A REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2015): Chosen in the 24th round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft by the Detroit Tigers at No. 730…Was 2-0 with a 3.00 earned run average in seven appearances totaling six innings…Saw action in one SEC game, the series opener against Western Division foe Alabama…Faced three batters and recorded two strikeouts to earn the victory over No. 11 Florida State on St. Patrick’s Day…Tossed a career-high three innings in the second win over Fairfield, giving up one hit and zero runs…Collected the road triumph against Florida Atlantic with a clean seventh and UF responded with a three-run eighth to move in front…Retired all three batters he faced on Opening Night as the Orange and Blue handled Rhode Island.

HIGH SCHOOL: Right-hander from Christopher Columbus High School who played for head coach Joe Weber…A first-team all-state recipient, Vinson was named the 2012 Miami-Dade County 8A-15 Player of the Year and was a member of the Miami Herald’s Class 8A-5A First-Team All-Dade County as a senior…Turned in a perfect 8-0 record with a 0.93 ERA and registered 83 strikeouts…Batted .338 with a .494 on-base percentage and 22 RBI…The Explorers were 27-5 overall and finished as the Class 8A state runner-up after capturing the district crown…Combined on a no-hitter in the Class 8A Regional final, working the first eight innings of Columbus’ 1-0 victory in nine innings over Hialeah…Struck out nine batters and only allowed one base-runner until the seventh inning…That lone runner had come in the opening frame after a passed ball on a strikeout…Vinson picked up the win in the inaugural game held at the Miami Marlins’ Park in front of more than 6,000 fans…Notched eight strikeouts in 5.2 innings, allowing just two hits…Collected the first hit at the park, a first-inning single, and contributed a two-run triple in the fourth inning…Was a first-team selection on Rawlings/Perfect Game Preseason Florida All-Region Team last spring…Mentioned as a top player on ESPN High School’s Florida All-State Baseball Team prior to his final prep campaign…Led the Explorers in home runs as a junior and picked up seven saves in 15.1 innings on the mound, with 22 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.89.
