Gators Open Fall Slate at the Porsche Napa Valley Tennis Classic

ST. HELENA, Calif. - The upperclassmen of the University of Florida men's tennis squad competed against some tough competition at the 15th annual Napa Valley Tennis Classic on Friday afternoon.
Senior Diego Hidalgo was solid at the Meadowood Tennis Club defeating Texas's George Goldhoff, 6-3, 6-3. Hidalgo was the sole winner in singles action on a day that the Gators saw close, competitive matches. Elliott Orkin fell to Alex Day of Princeton in a three-set showdown, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Senior Gordon Watson was defeated in straight-sets by Stanford's David Wilcyznski, 7-6(3), 6-2. Maxx Lipman also lost to USTA junior John McNally, 6-4, 7-6(4).
In doubles, Hidalgo and Watson took down the USTA duo of John McNally and JJ Wolf, 6-4. The pairing of juniors Lipman and Orkin fell to Cal's Lakat and Wikberg, 6-4.
