Gators Roll Tide, 5-2 to Cap Successful Road Weekend

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 16 University of Florida men's tennis team continued its winning ways on Sunday afternoon at No. 41 University of Alabama. The Gators defeated the Crimson Tide, 5-2 to extend their conference winning streak to five matches.
After dropping the doubles point, Florida was quick to grab five of six first sets in singles play. Senior Gordon Watson defeated Grayson Goldin 6-4, 6-0 to bring the match to one-all. Fellow-senior Diego Hidalgo was the next off the courts with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over No. 43 Mazen Osama.
Alfredo Perez gave the Gators a 3-1 edge by blanking Becker O'Shaughnessey in the final two sets of his match on court three. Sophomore Chase Perez-Blanco clinched the match for the Orange and Blue by defeating Spencer Richey 6-4, 6-2.
Up next, Florida returns home for a contest with the Vanderbilt Commodores next Friday night at 5 p.m. at the Ring Tennis Complex.
