Men's Tennis to compete in the ITA All-American Championship

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida men's tennis team will be back in action this coming week when they compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championship in Tulsa, Okla. The event will start on Saturday, Sept. 30 and conclude on Monday, Oct. 9, with all matches being played at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The ITA All-American Championship brings the top Division I players from across the country together for one of the primer fall events on the schedule. The Orange and Blue will be well represented at the championship event as nine Gators have been selected to compete, which is tied with Arkansas for the most in the SEC.
A season ago seven Gators competed in the ITA All-American Championship, with two making it to the main draw. The event was highlighted by Alfredo Perez who advanced to the semifinals after earning four match wins, three of which went to three sets.
Also at stake this week will be a berth into the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which takes place November 1-5, in Palm Desert, California. Singles quarterfinalists, consolation singles champion and finalist, along with doubles semifinalists and consolation doubles champion and finalist advance to the end of fall national championship.
Selection Process
The ITA National Ranking & Tournament Committee, consisting of the 12 region chairs, the ITA Operating Committee Chair and the Associate ITA Operating Committee Chair, is responsible for all selections for the championships. Only NCAA Division I student-athletes are eligible to participate.
