Gators’ Throwers Headed to Baton Rouge Friday
Thursday, February 1, 2018 | Track and Field
Four of the six throwers headed to LSU this weekend rank in the top 20 nationally
BATON ROUGE, La. – Florida, still ranked No. 1 by a massive margin on the men's side and ranked No. 5 on the women's side for a second consecutive week, sends a group of six throwers to Friday's Bayou Bengal Invitational, hosted by Louisiana State University.
Redshirt junior AJ McFarland and senior Lloydricia Cameron lead the contingent of throwers headed to LSU. McFarland broke his own school record in the weight throw two weeks ago and ranks 10th nationally this season. Cameron's season-best shot put mark also came two weeks ago, and it ranks fourth in the country.
McFarland's fellow weight throwers—redshirt sophomore Anders Eriksson and freshman Thomas Mardal—rank 17th and 19th, respectively, on the national descending order list. The top-16 marks in each event following conference championship meets qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships.
