GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida men's tennis team will exit SEC play on Friday for a showdown of top 10 teams when they take on the No. 1 ranked Demon Deacons of Wake Forest.
This will be the Gators final non-conference match of the regular season and give the Gators a look at the host site of the NCAA Tournament. The match between the Gators and Demon Deacons is scheduled to begin a 3 p.m. on Friday. If the match is forced inside due to weather, live scoring and video will still be provided.
Gator Notes
• In the fall season, Wake Forest had the No. 1 doubles team in the country, Petros Chrysochos and Skander Mansouri, but the doubles pair of Duarte Vale and McClain Kessler pulled one the biggest upsets of the season with a first-round victory over the favorites at the ITA All-American Championships 6-7(6), 6-3, 11-9
• Florida enters Friday with an overall record of 12-6 and a 7-1 record in the SEC
• The Gators currently sit in third in the SEC standings, a match behind undefeated Mississippi State and Texas A&M. Those two teams won't meet until the final week of the season, in College Station, Texas
• Florida is ranked 10th in the ITA Rankings
