DALLAS – The Florida Gators men's golf team finished the weekend fourth at the Trinity Forest Invitational, with four Gators in the top 20.
In the final round of Trinity Forest, John Axelsen moved up two spots to finish inside the top five, taking home third. With the help of an eagle on his first hole of the day and five birdies, Gordon Neale moved up five spots to finish in the top 10 at T10.
Aden Ye made a jump in the final round, moving up seven spots to T19. Chris Nido and Eugene Hong finished T35, with Nido moving up eight spots in the finals and Hong jumping 17 spots to finish the tournament.
Competing individually, Manny Girona closed out the tournament alongside Ye at T19, where he held strong over the course of the final two rounds.
Coach's Take
"The last two days were enormous for us. Our freshmen really stepped up this week and John Axelsen finished off one of the best events of his career to date. Our resilience was tested as we got off to a poor start day one. I feel like those guys took a huge step forward and showed themselves they can play with anyone. We have a few adjustments to make for next weeks' Nike Collegiate, but the work ethic and attitude on this team will make sure that happens. I'm so excited to see this team feed off the momentum we have built over the past two rounds," head coach JC Deacon.
