Crawford and Riffice Edged in Super Tiebreaker at M25 Naples Doubles Finals

The duo drops just their second doubles match this fall, cutting their seven match win streak.
NAPLES, Fla. – Oliver Crawford and Sam Riffice found themselves in yet another three-set super tiebreaker in the M25 Naples doubles finals on Friday evening, however, the duo would come up just short as Colombia's Jose Daniel Bendeck and Cristian Rodrigues would come from behind to take home the doubles crown. The loss serves as just Crawford and Riffice's second of the fall slate, as the defeat cuts the duo's seven match win streak.

The finals match was the last to be played on court one at the M25 Naples, as singles quarterfinals action took up the majority of the day before the championship match.

Despite the wait, Crawford and Riffice came to play, opening the match with a 6-4 decision to take the early advantage with the first set victory. Bendeck and Rodriguez wouldn't go down easily, however, as the pair fought back in the second set to come away with a 6-2 effort to force the super tiebreaker.

The situation was nothing new for the Gators, as their past two matches had been pushed into three sets, while also being 5-0 on the fall in three-set doubles matches. Unfortunately, this time Crawford and Riffice would find themselves on the wrong end of the super tiebreaker, as Bendeck and Rodriguez didn't hold back in coming away with a 10-2 decision to complete the comeback and take the M25 Naples doubles crown.
