
Gators Blank Kentucky to Remain Unbeaten in SEC

LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 4 Florida stayed unbeaten in conference play with a sweep of Kentucky on Saturday afternoon at the Boone Tennis Center.
With the 7-0 win, the Gators improve to 15-2 and extend their winning streak to nine matches.
Florida also moves to 7-0 in the SEC for the first time under Bryan Shelton. This marks the Gators best start to conference play since 2010 when they began 7-0 and finished second in the SEC regular season standings.
For the third straight match, the Gators snagged the doubles point. Florida got wins on courts one and two to secure the early lead.
Florida continued to put pressure on No. 40 Kentucky, taking all six first sets. Duarte Vale quickly put the Gators up 2-0 with his 6-1, 6-0 win on court six. The Cascais, Portugal native improved to 5-0 in the SEC and extended his winning streak to six matches.
Johannes Ingildsen followed with a dominating two-set decision over Cesar Bourgois (6-2, 6-3). Andy Andrade clinched the victory with a 6-3, 6-4 win on court three. Andrade earned his second-straight clincher for the Gators, fourth of the season for the sophomore.
Lukas Greif, Oliver Crawford and Sam Riffice completed the sweep with wins on courts five, one and two, respectively. Riffice, the only Gator to take his match to three sets, is now a team-best 7-0 in SEC play and has won nine straight.
Up next, Florida will welcome LSU and Texas A&M to the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex next weekend. The Gators and the No. 41 Tigers will meet on Friday at 5 p.m. The battle for the top spot in the SEC between Florida and No. 9 Texas A&M (16-3 overall, 6-0 SEC) will take place at Noon on Sunday.
