
Gators Continue Conference Play with Two-Match Road Swing This Weekend

Women's tennis set for matchups at Arkansas and at Missouri.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 45 University of Florida women's tennis team returns to the court this weekend, March 8-10, when it hits the road for back-to-back contests away from Gainesville. Leg one of the trip begins in Fayetteville, Ark. with a matchup with the Arkansas Razorbacks on Friday at 6 p.m. ET and the journey concludes Sunday in Columbia, Mo. as the Gators battle the Missouri Tigers at 1 p.m.
UF is back in action following a 1-1 start in its first SEC weekend of the season. Opening the conference slate at home, Florida earned a 4-1 win over Ole Miss, but fell in a tight one to Mississippi State, 4-3.
Florida features three singles players in the ITA top 125 as the sophomore trio of No. 12 Ida Jarlskog, No. 43 McCartney Kessler and No. 52 Victoria Emma has all cracked the rankings.
So far in dual match play, Jarlskog leads the squad with a 7-1 record while freshman Anastasia Kharitonova is off to an impressive 6-2 start. Both opened with 2-0 records in their respective SEC weekend debuts.
Jarlskog and Tsveta Dimitrova have registered a 4-2 record in doubles to lead the Gators and won both of their SEC matches this past weekend.
No. 44 Arkansas enters the weekend losers of six straight matches including setbacks to No. 25 Kentucky and No. 6 Vanderbilt to begin SEC play. Sophomore Tatum Rice, who competes primarily at the No. 2, is the lone Razorback ranked in the ITA Rankings at No. 98. Arkansas touts a pair of ranked doubles units with No. 63 Martina Zerulo and Rice and No. 79 Jackie Carr and Laura Rijkers.
Missouri is off to a 10-3 start but has opened conference play 0-2 with losses on the road to Vanderbilt and Kentucky as well. Florida native Mackenzy Middlebrooks is the Tigers' top-ranked singles player as she enters with a No. 97 ranking. Middlebrooks and teammate Ellie Wright make up the No. 65 doubles team in the ITA Rankings.
Florida holds a 30-1 edge over the Razorbacks in terms of the all-time series which dates back to 1992. Florida and Missouri have met just six times in a series which began in 2013 and the Gators are 6-0.
Following this weekend's action, Florida will return home March 15-17, to host Georgia and Tennessee.
