LUBBOCK, Texas – Florida women's tennis junior
McCartney Kessler picked up her third win in as many days, defeating Kendra Bunch 6-3, 6-1 Tuesday afternoon at the McLeod Tennis Center on the campus of Texas Tech University. With the victory, Kessler locked up a spot in the event's 32-player main draw which begins Wednesday.
After playing in consecutive matches decided via tiebreak to open the tournament Kessler defeated Bunch, who played collegiately at Drexel, in straight sets.
Kessler began competition in the 48-player qualifying draw Sunday, and emerged as one of just six to earn a spot in the main draw where she joins classmate
Victoria Emma, who earned an automatic qualification.
With first round matchups set, Kessler will take on prep player Jaedan Brown while Emma draws Anastasia Nefedova.
