No. 1 Florida to Host UCF, Stetson for Doubleheaders on Sunday

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 1 University of Florida men's tennis team returns back to action at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex this weekend, welcoming a pair of Sunshine State foes to Gainesville for doubleheaders against UCF and Stetson on Sunday afternoon. The Gators are slated to face the UCF Knights first, with first serve scheduled for 1 p.m., followed by a matchup with the Hatters not before 4:30 p.m.
The Gators look to return back to the win column after suffering a tough 5-2 loss to the No. 2 defending National Champion Texas Longhorns at Linder Stadium on Wednesday evening. Despite the outcome, Florida proceeds to move forward with its spring slate in hosting UCF, an experienced team receiving votes in the Oracle/ITA National Team Rankings with talent in both its doubles and singles lineup, and Stetson to the Alfred A. Ring Complex.
Florida has seen significant success from its doubles lineup this spring, holding a perfect 6-0 record and winning the doubles point in all three of the Gators' dual matches thus far. Senior Johannes Ingildsen and freshman Will Grant continue to build their chemistry in doubles action, holding a 2-0 record with wins from both the No. 1 and No. 2 position, while Florida has dominated the No. 3 position with wins from three separate duos in Greysen Cacciatore/Josh Goodger, Harrison Cacciatore/Sam Riffice and Josh Goodger/Duarte Vale. Additionally, No. 14 Oliver Crawford and Riffice hold a 1-0 mark at the No. 1 position for the Gators.
After a stiff showing in singles competition on Wednesday, the Gators are 12-6 overall in dual singles action. Freshman No. 118 Blaise Bicknell and junior Josh Goodger lead the Gators with undefeated records on the year, as Bicknell is riding a three-match win streak heading into Sunday's competition with two wins from the No. 6 position and one from No. 5, while Goodger sits at 2-0 from the No. 4 position. Ingildsen also remains flawless with just one win from the No. 6 position, while a plethora of Gators in juniors No. 17 Duarte Vale (2-1), No. 31 Oliver Crawford (1-1), No. 72 Andy Andrade (1-1), and sophomores No. 4 Sam Riffice (1-1) and No. 71 Lukas Greif (1-2) look to get back on track following losses in Wednesday's matchup with No. 2 Texas.

The Knights travel to Gainesville coming off a 6-1 season-opening victory over the Mercer Bears on Friday night, as UCF returns the same core group of players from last year's NCAA Tournament squad. The Knights have three singles players and one doubles team in the rankings, headlined by No. 22 Gabriel Decamps, followed by No. 29 Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi and No. 108 Bogdan Pavel. UCF's lone ranked doubles tandem consists of Decamps and Grassi Mazzuchi, who come into Sunday's match slated at No. 6 in the nation. The pair is 1-0 after Friday night and has gone 20-9 since they started playing together, including a 7-3 mark this fall. Additionally, the Knights also receive contributions from its duo of Pavel and Trey Hilderbrand, also 1-0 on the year, who were tabbed the nation's No. 3 pair heading into the fall.

Despite its youth, Stetson looks to lean on its experience and quality of depth in talent to lead them through the 2020 dual season.
