GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Had anyone ventured into the throwing area at Percy Beard Track during the 2015 through '17 seasons, they'd have been wise to keep their heads on a swivel.
Even from what most might consider a safe distance.
That's because for those three years, both Marija Vucenovic and Lloydricia Cameron were tossing heavy objects on their way to Southeastern Conference championships and NCAA podium appearances.
Now both will take their orange and blue roots to the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Cameron, the shot-putter from Miami by way of Jamaica, was profiled here last week. Now, it's Vucenovic's turn. One of the most decorated javelin throwers in UF and SEC history, Vucenovic will represent her home country of Serbia in Japan.
Currently ranked 18th in the javelin event, Vucenovic will need an exceptional performance to find her way to a medal, but she'll be there to give it a try.
